In the small village of Grávalos, at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level, is Bodegas Escudero, one of the few Rioja wineries dedicated to the production of Cava. Its origins date back to the 1950s when, after years of hard work and experimentation, Benito Escudero started making Cava in a small cellar excavated from the mountains; he became one of the pioneers of Cava production in Spain. Today, at Bodegas Escudero, Benito’s children continue his legacy by producing Cava with the same care and dedication as their father. Respect for nature and commitment to quality are the family's fundamental values. The Cavas are made from Viura, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes grown in the more than 30 hectares of vineyards owned by the family. The main brands are Benito Escudero, Dioro Baco and Becquer.
