The main objective of the Cava Academy is to train professionals from the world of wine and Cava lovers, allowing them to expand their knowledge of Cava. This is the only specific training course on Cava offered by the Cava Designation of Origin.

The first Cava Academy experience started in London in 2018, and afterwards it spread to other locations such as Belgium, Tokyo and New York. Since its inception, the Cava Academy has trained hundreds of Cava Ambassadors around the world.

Cava Academy On-site

In this course, first live on-site, you will find and experience everything a Cava Educator needs to know
: the history of Cava, the Designation of Origin, its Regulatory Council, the traditional production method, grape varieties permitted, origins and zoning, types and styles, classification, how to enjoy it, in addition to its multiple pairings and its great link with gastronomy.

CAVA ACADEMY

The success of the programme and the desire to universalise knowledge about Cava has motivated the Regulatory Board to create an online training programme.

Cava Academy online enjoys the participation of prestigious professionals from the sector, such as the renowned sommelier Ferran Centelles, collaborator of elBulliFoundation and delegate in Spain of Jancis Robinson, and the acclaimed Pedro Ballesteros Master of Wine, adding extra value to the tasting experience. In the gastronomic field, the participation of the Basque Culinary Center introduces us to Cava’s extraordinary versatility, exploring the potential of pairing this quality Spanish sparkling wine with different cuisines from around the world.

When you have completed and passed the course, you will have acquired a solid knowledge of Cava, as well as becoming a recognised Cava Educator and part of the Cava Academy Alumni community.

In addition, for those who want to go further and earn the title of Cava Expert, once the course is finished, they can submit a thesis on one of the themes proposed annually.
