The Sala family, which has been producing wines since 1861, opened this winery on their Sant Quintí de Mediona estate in 1895. Descendants of the Sala family have recovered this historic winery to produce long-aging cavas. Can Sala cavas are made following the same processes and techniques of more than 100 years ago. In Can Sala you will discover the historical vertical wooden press from 1895 that we continue to use today. The entire system of "rimas", horizontally, row upon row, riddling and disgorging is done manually. The winery has a maximum capacity of 15,000 bottles per year.
