ALTA ALELLA, the family project of Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets, his wife Cristina Guillén and their two daughters, Mireia and Georgina, is located in the hearth of the Serralada de Marina Natural Park, 2 kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea and 15 from the center of Barcelona. Following the principles of organic farming since the beginning, in 1991 they recovered 60 years old vineyards and planted the traditional Pansa Blanca and Mataró varieties on hillsides and terraces. They currently own 50 hectares of organic vineyards located between the towns of Alella, Teià and Tiana, cradle of quality cava since the the early 20th century. In 2017, Vallcirera “Paraje” has been recognized as a Qualified Area by the D.O. Cava, a distinction and reward for many years of work producing high quality cavas, with their own personality and linked to the territory. Vallcirera is the only organic Qualified Area since its origins, and located in a natural park. 2020 is also a key year for the winery as the Cava Regulatory Board has approved the new zoning system and recognized the SERRA DE MAR area, giving value to the Alella wine region and its exceptional and unique soil, climate, orography and historical characteristics.
