An instructive tasting, “Denominación de Origen Cava, the new era of excellence”, served as a basis for explaining the new segmentation and zoning regulations to the professionals in attendance, and the links between the regulations and the project’s high quality and sustainability.

Expert sommelier Xavi Viles exemplified the delicate and exceptional nature of Cava with this tasting of premium wines. The seven top-rated Cavas in the 2022 edition of the Peñín Guide to Spanish Wine were: at the pinnacle, Alta Alella 10 from Alta Alella (96 points); followed by, each with 95 points: Ars Collecta 459 from Raventós Codorníu; Blanca Cusiné 2013 from Parés Baltà; Can Sala 2008 Paraje Calificado from Vins Família Ferrer; Kripta Gran Reserva 2013 from Agustí Torelló Mata; Milesimé Brut Màgnum 2010 from Juvé & Camps; and Tresor Anniversary Gran Reserva Brut 2017 from Pere Ventura.

This tasting aroused considerable interest and coverage, as well as surprising the most demanding palates with such a high-level showcase. In fact, during his visit to the show, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, highlighted

"the sector's commitment to the production of quality wines, because of the added value it brings, enabling us to fulfil important marketing quotas abroad".
