The D.O. Cava at Burgundy Business School

Shipments by D.O. Cava to foreign markets demonstrate the strong presence of the designation at an international level. As you’d expect, Cava is an essential element in selected programmes at the most prestigious educational establishments around the world. On 7 May, an online masterclass was held for the Burgundy School of Business (BSB) located in Dijon, France.

"Cava in the world" was the masterclass given by Alexandre Comellas, General Secretary of D.O. Cava, and Luís Marco, Technical Director of D.O. Cava, with the support of AECAVA, to students of the BSB’s Specialised Masters in International Trade in Wines & Spirits. This course is considered the number one wine and gastronomy programme in France and the 3rd internationally.

Beginning with the four pillars of Cava, students were introduced to the D.O.’s commitment to quality. This sparkling wine stands out for being produced in the favourable Mediterranean climate, following the traditional method of production, and for its own personality and its close harmony with gastronomy.

In addition, the economic data for the 2020 financial year was discussed in detail, demonstrating Cava's considerable resilience in the face of the current adverse situation. The event culminated by considering the challenges for the future of D.O.Cava, among which the implementation of the new segmentation and zoning regulations was highlighted.
