Cava shines at SommCon, a wine world event in San Diego

Last September the sunny city of San Diego hosted the prestigious SommCon® event. This annual congress is a showcase for both wine-lovers and professionals. Moreover, the D.O. stood out with an exclusive tasting table, presenting no less than 12 Cavas de Guarda Superior.

During the two days of the event, the D.O. Cava stand became the epicentre of the fair, attracting the attention of all those present and sparking unprecedented interest. In fact, this year's event recorded the highest attendance since 2019, counting more than 1,000 visitors. .

SommCon® is known for attracting wine professionals from around the United States, and this edition was no exception. The audience was composed of sommeliers, buyers, distributors, and wine lovers from all over the United States. The prestige of the event was reflected in the quality of the attendees, who came with high expectations and a good level of knowledge about Cava.

One of the highlights of the Cava D.O.'s participation was the seminar given by the respected Advanced Cava Trainer and director of the Spanish Wine Scholar Guild, Rick Fisher. During the session, the latest developments were presented with an emphasis on segmentation and long-aged Cavas, exemplified by a selection of Cavas de Guarda Superior from the following wineries: Avinyó, Castell d'Or, Codorniu, Giró del Gorner, Jané Ventura, Juvé & Camps, Parés Baltà, Roger Goulart, Sumarroca, Vilarnau, Vins el Cep, and Vins Familia Ferrer.
