A journey through the excellence of Cava, by Ferran Centelles
On 7 June, the second edition of the Masterclass and tasting "A journey through the excellence of Cava" will take place. This online tasting, led by the sommelier Ferran Centelles together with Javier Pagés, president of the D.O. Cava, is focused on the quality of the Spanish sparkling wine par excellence.
The session, aimed at professionals from the sector and the Spanish press, will cover the excellence of the Cava Denomination of Origin, and will include a tasting of some Cavas de Guarda Superior (Gran Reserva and Paraje Calificado) of exceptional quality.
The prestigious sommelier Ferran Centelles is a renowned professional in the wine sector, with extensive experience as a sommelier, wine writer/wine journalist, wine educator, wine judge, beverage manager, gastronomic writer and author. Collaborator of elBulliFoundation, editor at www.jancisrobinson.com and professor at Outlook Wine, as well as member of the tasting panel of Cava de Paraje Calificado.
Ferran won the National Gastronomy Award in 2011, the Ruinart Award for Best Sommelier in Spain in 2006, and the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy Award for Best Sommelier in 2013. Author of the book ¿Qué vino con este pato?, he is currently National Chair for Spain at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), and president of the sommelier jury at the Taste Institute (ITQI).
