Valle del Cierzo

ALTO EBRO Rio Ebro VALLE DEL CIERZO Vitoria-Gasteiz Golfo de Vizcaya Logroño Pamplona Zaragoza FRANCIA

Near the Aragonese city of Zaragoza are the vineyards of the Cierzo Valley sub-zone, in the central area of the Ebro River, specifically in the municipalities of Ainzón and Cariñena.

This sub-zone is located in the interior of the peninsula, with a continental climate characterised by cold winters and hot summers, and a high thermal contrast between night and day. The most notable feature is the characteristic wind, known as the “Cierzo”: a cool, dry and strong wind that contributes to the dry climate.
