At the end of October we welcomed two high-level opinion-leaders from the United Kingdom to the heart of Cava.
Rob Buckhaven, presenter, author, and wine columnist of Metro newspaper, and David Kermode, broadcaster on BBC radio and ITV’s This Morning, and writer for Club Oenologique, explored the Cava region in a familiarisation trip where they learned about the latest developments that promise a bright future for Cava, as well as the high quality and versatility guaranteed by the traditional production method.
This visit offered an immersion into the region, starting with an intimate dinner with the president of the D.O. Cava, Javier Pagés; a blind tasting given by the Master of Wine Álvaro Ribalta; and more than 60 Cavas tasted, as well as the full Cava experience in six wineries.
The participating wineries undoubtedly made all the difference to this trip. Cava Guilera, Muscàndia, Oliver Viticultors, Pere Ventura, Roger Goulart and Sumarroca, all opened their doors to the journalists, explaining with great passion and detail how their Cavas are made, and their differentiating characteristics.
The British journalists’ visit to the region allowed us to show the heart of Cava to these writers in full depth: various wineries and professionals who are passionate about Cava guided and welcomed the writers, giving them a voice about Cava for the UK market.
