As part of the Cava Discovery Week campaign in Japan, the Palace Hotel in Tokyo opened its doors for Premium Cava Night, an event which saw hospitality sector professionals and journalists coming together.
Around 20 Japanese journalists took part in this exclusive dinner to officially present the second edition of Cava Discovery Week, with the participation of 20 premium restaurants, five wineries and 32 Cavas, as well as the Cava Market in the Matsuya department store in Tokyo's Ginza district.
The event was compered by the two-Michelin-starred Spanish chef Josep Barahona, renowned in Japan as a pioneer in bringing Spain’s cuisine to Japan, and the current Cava ambassador in Japan. In addition to representation from the D.O. Cava, the meeting also had the support of the renowned Sommelier Takayuki Kikuchi, whose presentation highlighted the excellence of Cava, its high quality and versatility.
During the dinner, a total of five dishes were tasted, each paired with a Cava de Guarda Superior from the following D.O. Cava wineries: Bodegas Langa Reyes de Aragón, Bolet Pinot Noir; Canals i Munné ADN Canals; Giró Ribot Uma; and Sumarroca Gran Reserva 2018.
