A successful training program with RNDC and Favorite Brands: discovering the world of Cava in Texas

In an innovative initiative aimed at bolstering the Cava distribution scene in the state of Texas, the D.O. Cava promoted an educational program aimed at more than 80 professional distributors and sales representatives.

The program focused on the thorough training of some of the most renowned sommeliers, beverage directors and retailers at two of the most influential companies in Texas, with the aim of furnishing these professionals with detailed knowledge of Cava, from its production through traditional methods, to its various categories, its Mediterranean origin, and its aging potential.

The first training session was attended by the Republic National Distribution Company (RNDC) team, benefitting from the expertise of Jack Mason, a Master Sommelier who stressed the value of this training to boost Cava sales: "Our representatives acquired valuable knowledge of Cava de Guarda Superior and how to differentiate the categories that exist under the Cava denomination. This training will surely help us promote Cava during this high season for sparkling wines, which is very timely!"

The second session, in collaboration with Favorite Brands LLC, was overseen by Rick Fisher, a Cava Trainer, DipWSET and Director of the Spanish Wine Scholar Guild. Fisher underscored the attending professionals' commitment and interest: "The seminar was incredibly well received. Everyone was engaged, and many expressed their gratitude after the event. It was a window into a new world of Cava, and I'm excited about the positive impact it will have on the market."

An intense educational program has proven to be a significant step in strengthening Cava's presence in Texas, training key professionals who will play a crucial role in promoting and selling this highly-regarded sparkling wine in the region.
