The zone of Requena, made up of the municipality of Requena, is located in the interior of Valencia province, taking its name from its location in relation to the Iberian Peninsula.
This area lies between the Mediterranean Sea and the Castilian meseta, constituting a small inland plateau located between 600 and 900 metres in altitude. Its rounded shape is delimited to the south by the great sweep of the River Cabriel, and to the north by the Iberian sierras of the Molón.
Characterised by a dry meso-mediterranean climate, with a tendency towards continental, mainly due to the altitude and the distance, approximately 70 km, from the Mediterranean Sea. This sub-zone has remarkable thermal contrasts between day and night, as well as long, cold winters.
