How To Participate

First Phase: Online Selection

The Online Application Phase is the first step of the Best Cava Sommelier competition.

Candidates from the United Kingdom and the United States are invited to submit their professional profile and a short video or written document answering the proposed challenges. This initial stage helps the judging panel identify sommeliers with strong motivation, communication ability, and a genuine connection to Cava.

All submissions will be reviewed by an expert committee, following the requirements. Selected candidates will advance to the Second Phase, held in person in each country.

Who Can Apply

Sommeliers, wine and hospitality professionals, wine students, specialized journalists, other wine professionals and educators.
Age requirement: Applicants must be 18+ years old in UK and 21+ in USA.

Steps to follow

1. Attach your updated CV

Update your most recent professional résumé in PDF format.

2. Video / Written challenge

A video of maximum 2 minutes or a written presentation, answering the three mandatory questions listed below.

Why do you believe you are the Best Cava Sommelier?
What do you propose to contribute to the world of Cava?
How would you inspire consumers to choose Cava?

Second Phase: On-site Competition

Finalists will have the opportunity to attend the live competition in their respective country. During this stage, candidates will face practical challenges evaluated by an expert panel jury.

You can find information about the competition on the dedicated UK and USA pages on our website. On the same day, the Best Cava Sommelier UK and the Best Cava Sommelier USA will also be announced.
