Cava participates in Spanish Wine Week in Ireland

Ireland’s Spanish Wine Week is the largest Spanish wine event in the country. This year, the tasting organised by the Cava Designation of Origin with the Master of Wine Barbara Boyle opened a sixth edition that was eagerly awaited by the Irish public.

On 20 September, the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dublin was the venue for an in-person tasting for 35 professionals from the sector. In addition to learning about the new segmentation and zoning regulations, the attendees had the pleasure of sampling eight types of Cava, from Cava de Guarda to Cava de Guarda Superior de Paraje Calificado:

Cava de Guarda: Cordón Negro, Freixenet. Cava de Guarda Superior Reserva: Agustí Torelló Mata Brut Reserva 2018, Agustí Torelló Mata; Bruant, Alta Alella; Maria Casanovas Brut de Brut, Maria Casanovas. Cava de Guarda Superior Gran Reserva: Clos Gelida 4 Heretats, Vins el Cep; Reserva de la Família, Juvé & Camps; Núria Claverol Blanc de Noirs, Sumarroca. Cava de Guarda Superior de Paraje Calificado: Gran Vintage Paraje Calificado Can Bas, Pere Ventura.

Barbara Boyle is a director and wine buyer for the wholesale company WineMason, which she set up with her husband Ben Mason in 2014. As well as being editor of The Best of Wine in Ireland wine guide for two years, Barbara is one of Ireland’s six Masters of Wine.
